The BEST Photos from Upcote Barn

I’m always thrilled when asked to be an Upcote Barn wedding photographer. This stunning Cotswolds venue has beauty and character in abundance.

The Barn at Upcote is a sympathetically renovated Threshing Barn and is an absolutely stunning place to get married.

The pretty courtyard is a fabulous space for either an outdoor ceremony or drinks reception, and the secret garden is the perfect spot for sneaking away for some couple’s portraits

My relaxed, informal style and my love of nature is a perfect fit for the Barn at Upcote.

The Client’s said…

“Words cannot describe how amazing Becky has been to work with.

Becky is an absolute powerhouse managing to juggle wrangling a pretty loud and spotlight-grabbing collection of relatives and keeping things fun, happy and relaxed.

When we got our sneak peeks back today, we cried at how beautiful we both looked and felt.

I can’t overstate how much I would recommend Becky and how utterly thrilled we are to have found her.

Becky – you made our day stress-free and we felt safe in your care

Your eye for the perfect locations to take the pictures, your fantastic directing when we needed it and your superspy-esque fly-on-the-wall approach to documentary-style photos throughout the day, your unbeatable consideration for us throughout the whole process; we couldn’t have asked for anyone better and I don’t hesitate to say that I don’t think anyone better exists”

A relaxed celebration in the Cotswolds

Lizzie and Mike were just the most wonderful clients. They simply wanted to celebrate their love in a beautiful location and wanted a relaxed, informal day. The Barn at Upcote in Gloucestershire was the perfect fit.

Their ceremony took place in the Barn at Upcote’s main barn and had all of the guests in tears. The guests threw confetti over the newlyweds out in the courtyard as they welcomed them into married life.

During the drinks reception, there were several lawn games for guests to enjoy. The bride and groom opted for a longer drinks reception so that there was plenty of time for family photos, portraits and time to chill with their guests.

A three-course meal was served in the main Barn, and speeches were delivered. Lizzie had lost her dad a short while before the wedding, which made it extra emotional. Wonderful tributes were given to her late father, who was beautifully honoured.

Once the cake was cut, guests headed back out into the Barn at Upcote’s courtyard for more drinks and games before the first dance took place in one of the smaller barns.

As the sun began to set, Lizzie, Mike and I headed up to The Barn at Upcote’s drive where we took a stroll and captured some truly stunning golden hour photographs

Why Upcote Barn is Perfect for Relaxed Photography

Upcote Barn is one of Gloucestershire’s most loved wedding venues, and it’s easy to see why. Set in the Cotswolds countryside just outside Cheltenham, it has a wonderful balance of feeling both relaxed and beautifully considered — rustic, but without being rough. As an Upcote Barn wedding photographer, I always feel quietly excited when I arrive, knowing the day will be truly beautiful.

One of the things I love most about photographing weddings at Upcote Barn is how well the space supports a genuinely laid-back day. From morning preparations in the farmhouse to ceremonies in the beautiful main barn, everything is easy with no rushing around. Guests tend to spread out across the courtyard and the several buildings that surround it.

My style of wedding photography at Upcote Barn is calm, natural and unobtrusive. I don’t direct or interrupt what’s happening; instead, I focus on observing quietly and capturing the day as it really feels. That might be the pre-ceremony apprehension, a glance between you during speeches, or the way your friends throw themselves onto the dance floor once the sun goes down.

Upcote Barn is also a wonderful venue for couples who value connection over tradition. You could have a relaxed outdoor ceremony, a winter wedding inside the barn, or a full weekend celebration with your closest people. Having photographed here, I’m familiar with the light at different times of day and the natural flow of the venue, which means you can simply enjoy yourselves while I take care of documenting it.

If you’re looking for an Upcote Barn wedding photographer who will blend into the background, notice the quiet in-between moments, and create photographs that feel honest and timeless, this venue is a perfect match for my way of working.

Do you photograph lots of weddings at Upcote Barn?

Yes — I’ve photographed weddings at Upcote Barn and similar Gloucestershire and Cotswolds venues, and I know how the space works throughout the day.

What style of photography suits Upcote Barn best?

Upcote Barn suits relaxed, documentary-style wedding photography beautifully. The natural light, open spaces and informal atmosphere lend themselves to candid, unposed images.
