A Wedding at Old Gore

The drinks reception took place outside as guests were served champagne and canapés. We used the front of the barn as a beautiful backdrop for some family and bridal party photographs. Once guests were asked to be seated for their meal, Becky, Matt and I took a stroll around the venue’s grounds for some newlywed portraits.

The speeches took place before the wedding breakfast and as the sun began to set, the three of us ran up Old Gore’s drive for some stunning golden hour photos. After dinner, there was some downtime for drinks and chatting before the couple cut their wedding cake, which had been made by the groom himself!

Guests were summoned outside and lined up with sparklers for some epic sparkler-exist photos before the first dance in the Threshers Barn. The dance floor was wild as the party started and Old Gore came to life as Tux Fizz band played the night away.

Old Gore Wedding Venue

Old Gore Barn, established by Yard Space Events, is a luxury wedding venue in the beautiful area of  Calmsden, Gloucestershire. The barn has been recently renovated to provide a fabulous event space, combining the old Cotswold Barn with a modern, timber-framed extension. 

Sitting within the Cotswolds, Old Gore is an ancient barn and is an amazing backdrop for weddings. The venue’s exterior is traditional Cotswold stonework, while the interior has exposed wooden beams and large windows that bring in lots of natural light.

Licensed to host civil ceremonies for up to 120 guests in the Threshers Barn or up to 150 in the Long Barn. Old Gore is a great venue for both smaller and larger celebrations. Why not exchange vows in front of the charming wood-burning stove. Natural greenery hangs from above and Crittall-style doors flood the old barn with light. You can also have an outdoor ceremony if the weather allows. After the ceremony, guests are invited outside to enjoy the Cotswolds scenery during the drinks reception, where group photographs, newly-wed portraits and candid photographs can all be captured.  

The Long Barn is generally used as the main reception area, seating up to 150 seated guests for food and up to 200 for the evening gathering. The Long Barn has an open kitchen and an Argentine Asado fire pit, allowing guests to watch the chef in action. There’s even a state-of-the-art Funktion One sound system, ensuring high-quality audio throughout the day.

Once evening descends the firepits outside will be lit, as well as the log burner and candles, creating many cosy, atmospheric places for guests to enjoy.

Old Gore’s biggest feature is its exceptional food. Inspired by street food culture, the in-house chefs create bespoke menus that cater to various tastes, all cooked outside on the Argentinian Asado. You and your guests can enjoy Middle Eastern-inspired dishes from the Fire Menu, stone-baked pizzas in the pizza oven or ASADO lamb. Desserts are served from kitchen hatches, offering churros, gelato, or warm chocolate brownies. For your evening food, options such as burgers, bao buns, and the chef’s famous savoury doughnuts are available. 

Though there’s no on-site accommodation at Old Gore, being a popular tourist destination, there are many options nearby for guests to stay. The Stump pub is located less than a mile from the venue. The New Inn is just a 10-minute drive away. Classic Cotswold cottages such as Montreal House and Casina Cottage are also available nearby.
