Lapstone Barn Wedding Photographer
Victoria and Matt’s Cotswolds Wedding
It was such a privilege to be Tori and Matt’s Lapstone Barn wedding photographer back in August. Lapstone Barn is a gorgeous 18th century Cotswold Barn wedding venue near Chipping Campden. This venue is a wonderful mix of traditional Cotswolds stone, oak beams, countryside views and big windows letting in natural light. It’s a wedding venue with everything to love!
When Matt, Tori and I had their pre-wedding consultation a week or two before their big day, I could just tell it was going to be fun! They had really thought about every detail and how to make the day as fun and unique as possible for their wedding guests. This included a dance as they, they’re wedding party and immediate family were welcomed into the wedding breakfast, and specially selected guests to receive chef hats as they were chosen to carve up dinner as it was delivered to the table by the staff!
More than anything, both Tori and Matt were just so animated, beaming with joy, full of love for one another and over the moon to be becoming Mr and Mrs. I think this really shows in the photographs, and all those real moments really do make for the best wedding gallery.

Lapstone Barn Wedding Venue
Lapstone Barn is one of the most charming wedding venues in the Cotswolds, perfect for couples wanting a rustic, barn celebration. This 18th Century Barn has traditional Cotswold stone walls and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The Cotswolds countryside views are visible in every direction, perfect for wedding photos.
There is on-site accommodation for up to 26 guests in the Farmhouse, Cottage and Stables, as well as exclusive use of the Hayloft for a bride or groom to get ready ahead of the ceremony.
Lapstone Barn has been thoughtfully designed to host receptions, with plenty of space for guests to enjoy delicious food and a night of fun and partying. The layout is flexible, and therefore perfect for larger and more intimate weddings.
This grade II listed stone barn sits on a hill just five minutes from Gloucestershire’s Chipping Camden, a pretty Cotswolds town with biscuit-coloured limestone houses and plenty for guests to see and do. There are several local churches for those wanting a religious ceremony, and the venue is also fully licensed for civil ceremonies.
There are 2000 square feet of space and room for up to 200 guests. The Tanners Bar will be well-stocked for guests wanting to party late into the night.
A Wonderful Celebration at Lapstone Barn
I met up with Tori as she arrived at the venue, which has a designated area in which brides can get ready called ‘The Hayloft’. Tori and her bridesmaids busied themselves with hair and make-up, they steamed dresses, drank champagne and completed all the other wedding preparations while I documented the events with my camera.
Matt and his groomsmen arrived and headed for the Tanner’s Bar for drinks before welcoming guests and ushering them to the ceremony room.
The ceremony itself was perhaps one of the most touching ceremonies I have ever been to. Mainly because the bride and groom had written their own vows, which were beautiful, amusing, and unique. I absolutely love the expressions on their loved ones faces as they tied the knot, as well the ecstasy on the newly-weds faces as they were pronounced husband and wife.
After a quick just-married cuddle with cockerpoo Pip, the new Mr and Mrs headed out into the English courtyard where guests showered them with confetti and staff passed them champagne. Lots of congratulatory hugging ensued and everyone was full of joy.
After some group photographs, candids and couple’s portraits it was time for the wedding breakfast. Guests were ushered into the Northwick Barn which was decorated beautifully. The room was set up with long harvest-style tables, and had an elegant, rustic vibe with runners of white fabric with greenery and candles for an air of romance. After the welcome dances and meat carving was over, the guests settled down to a delicious wedding breakfast cooked by the in-house catering team and speeches soon followed.
Once the more formal celebrations had finished, Matt, Tori, two of their groomsmen and I headed out into the surrounding Cotswold’s fields to let off some purple smoke bombs. The four of them ran around laughing while I captured the chaos. I have never used smoke bombs before at a wedding, but they were awesome! I had pre-warned the couple that they can stain, and there was a definite tinge to Tori’s wedding dress train when we headed back to the barn. Fortunately, Tori didn’t care and was more interested in making memories than keeping her dress perfect! She also had a gorgeous evening gown to put on and so her maid-of-honour assisted her into this before cake cutting and the first dance.

Weddings in the Cotswolds
There is SO much to love about the beautiful Cotswolds. From rolling hills, endless fields, pretty stone walls and honey-coloured villages – it’s no wonder this is classed as one of the UK’s areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Ideally located on the borders of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Worcestershire and Warwickshire its central location makes it an incredibly popular area for weddings.
Some of my favourite Cotswolds villages include Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water and Winchcombe. I have spent many a day walking in the Cotswolds countryside including along the Cotswolds Way (though not all 93 miles of it!).
The reason the Cotswolds architecture is so pretty is the world famous Cotswolds stone. The yellow oolitic Jurassic limestone is used extensively in Cotswolds architecture, making its buildings effortlessly nestle into their beautiful surroundings.
I absolutely love photographing in this beautiful area. From wide-angled rolling landscapes to macro shots of rings on stone walls, it’s impossible not to be inspired by the beautiful Cotswolds.
Nothing says English Country wedding like a Cotswolds stone barn. Lapstone Barn is a grade II listed, exclusive use barn in the North of the Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Historically a working farm, before famous painter Margaret Calkin James moved in. Later, it was converted to a furniture workshop before becoming the gorgeous wedding venue it is today.
