OWLPEN MANOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER
I’m always genuinely delighted when couples get in touch about Owlpen Manor wedding photography. Owlpen Manor is one of those rare venues that feels quietly special the moment you arrive — tucked away in the Cotswolds countryside, full of character, history, and set in beautiful Cotswolds nature that is hugely popular for couples seeking a venue.
As a photographer, it’s the kind of place that really lends itself to my approach. I work in a relaxed, natural, documentary way, focusing on real moments as they unfold rather than directing or staging them. Owlpen Manor’s beautiful gardens, winding paths, and beautiful, varied buildings create the perfect backdrop for this style of wedding photography — nothing feels rushed or over-polished, and there’s space for couples and their guests to simply be present and enjoy the day.
One of the things I love most about weddings at Owlpen Manor is the on-site accommodation. It makes it ideal for couples who want a long, laid-back celebration with the people closest to them, often spread over a whole weekend. On the morning of your wedding, guests can wander the grounds, with the energy building into the evening, which allows me to tell the full story of your wedding in an honest, unobtrusive way. If you’re planning an Owlpen Manor celebration and are drawn to natural, timeless photography that reflects how your day truly felt, it’s a venue — and an experience — that works beautifully.
“THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. YOU ARE AMAZING.
So, so grateful”

A real wedding at Owlpen Manor
Georgina and Ben wanted an informal, fun day and wanted to enjoy the stunning scenery that Owlpen had to offer.
They tied the knot in the summer and planned to have a drinks reception in the formal gardens. Halfway through though, the Great British weather had other ideas! It started to pour with rain, but fortunately, there is lots of stunning indoor space, so it didn’t matter one bit!
Despite an inconvenient downpour, the sun soon came back out again and guests were able to enjoy the stunning Gloucestershire countryside that Owlpen has to offer.
I particularly love the stunning Cotswolds stone, which is a stunning backdrop for photographs.

CHOOSING OWLPEN MANOR AS YOUR VENUE
Sitting in a pretty valley near Stroud in Gloucestershire, Owlpen Manor is a hidden venue in the Cotswolds. Set on a 215-acre estate, this Tudor Grade I listed manor has over a thousand years of history documented. Surrounded by ancient woodland and Cotswolds landscapes, including Uley Bury and the nearby West Hill Romano-Celtic temple site, there are gorgeous views across the Severn Vale. The estate has even made appearances in TV shows such as Most Haunted, What the Tudors Did for Us, The Trouble with Home, and The Fly and the Eagle.
Owlpen Manor offers exclusive use of its grounds, including the venue space and nine pretty Cotswolds cottages. The manor is fully licensed for indoor and outdoor ceremonies, whether you choose the charming parish church, the romantic Old English formal gardens, or the Great Hall in the Manor House for smaller weddings. It can host up to 200 guests, in total and can sleep up to 40 guests, with further space for glamping or camping. The estate also offers wild swimming for those wanting to cool off amid a weekend of celebrations.
Just a short drive from Tetbury and Dursley, and the pretty Cotswolds village of Uley is a short stroll away too. The surrounding hills, including Hetty Pegler’s Tump, a Neolithic burial mound, which hints at the area’s early medieval and even prehistoric significance. It’s believed the valley was a site of Celtic missionary activity.
The Mander Family, current owners of Owlpen Manor, are passionate about organic and sustainable principles. They have lovingly restored historic barns, gardens, and outbuildings with care, for an eco-conscious retreat that respects the venue’s special history.
The Old English formal gardens are a fabulous place for a drinks reception and for photos too.

Owlpen Manor: a stunning backfrop for photographs
Owlpen Manor is a historic estate with origins dating back to the early medieval period. The site has been occupied since at least the 9th century, with the current manor house built during the late 15th and early 16th centuries. The manor is named after the Saxon thegn “Olla” and the nearby spring, or “pen.” The Daunt family acquired the estate in the 1400s, and they were responsible for many of the Tudor-style enhancements that are still visible today.
In the 18th century, the manor passed to the Stoughton family, who made minimal alterations, which helped preserve its medieval and Tudor character through the centuries. However, by the late 19th century, Owlpen Manor fell into a state of decline, typical of many old English country houses during that period. It was revived in the early 20th century by architect Norman Jewson, a key figure in the Arts and Crafts movement.
Today, Owlpen Manor is not only an architectural gem but also a cultural and historical landmark. The Mander family, who bought the property in the 1970s, have continued its preservation, opening it to the public and maintaining its estate cottages and gardens.
