No.4 Clifton Village Wedding

Clifton, Bristol

It’s always a pleasure when I’m asked to be a No.4 Clifton Village Wedding Photographer.

This beautiful venue is set in the heart of Bristol’s gorgeous Clifton village, just a stone’s throw from the iconic Suspension Bride and a short stroll from the Bristol Downs.

Suzan and Ian had only recently had a baby when they first enquired with me and were busy being new parents when we had our first wedding planning meeting. They wanted an informal, intimate wedding and wanted a relaxed wedding photographer to blend in with their family and friends and capture the story of the day.

I’ve shot lots of small weddings at No.4 Clifton village and it’s the perfect venue for a micro-wedding. It’s beautifully decorated and has multiple different spaces including the Admiral ceremony room, the Galley Bar and the Secret Garden.

The Wedding Story

I arrived at No4 Clifton village about half an hour before the ceremony was due to start. The registrars had already arrived and were making preparations by interviewing the couple ahead of the nuptials. The bride was putting the finishing touches to her hair and make-up, and getting into her wedding dress in one of the hotel rooms upstairs. Meanwhile, groom, Ian, was getting their now 8-month-old son into his wedding attire.

The ceremony took place in the Admiral room and Ian burst into tears at the sight of his beautiful wife-to-be being walked down the aisle by her father. Ian’s mum was also in tears, which was incredibly touching.

The ceremony was simple, informal and low-key, just what the couple had wanted, and the registrar made it lighthearted and intimate as he got the couple to say their vows, exchange rings and sign the register.

Once the ceremony had finished, the newly-weds headed into the Galley bar for a moment alone and a glass of champagne whilst I lined the guests up in the Secret Garden in anticipation for the confetti toss!

The new Mr and Mrs walked down the stairs and were greeted by their guests who laughed and cheered as they showered them in confetti. Congratulations, hugs, and kisses were exchanged before the No4 Clifton Village staff brought out canapes and served the reception drinks in the sun.

The couple’s 8-month-old baby was starting to get sleepy and needed a nap, so we took the opportunity for some family photos before he fell asleep. Despite being a little tired he smiled and grinned at the camera whilst I captured the group photographs. Afterwards, the bride’s sister and maid-of-honour managed to get him to sleep in his buggy whilst the bride, groom and I headed out to Rodney Place for some photos in the doorway of the hotel and in the garden opposite, which was happily full of blue bells.

I was due to leave as the guests were seated to eat the wedding breakfast and so I took the opportunity to photograph the Admiral room once more, which had now been set up with tables and chairs ahead of the meal. Bouquets lined the table and gifts were put out to entertain the children.

Intimate Bristol Micro-Weddings

I absolutely love photographing small, intimate micro-weddings in Bristol and surrounding areas.

There’s something really beautiful about simple, low-key weddings that seem to be bursting with feeling and emotion and focused on what’s really important, rather than all the fuss of a traditional wedding.

My style lends itself to smaller weddings, I have a warm, friendly personality which means I put guests at ease quickly, enabling me to capture beautifully real moments during your reception and drinks reception.
