Bristol Wedding Photographer
Hey, I’m Becky, and I’m a Bristol Wedding Photographer
I photograph weddings with an unobtrusive and informal approach.
It’s important to me that as my clients, you get time to enjoy your day not spend all day posing in front of the camera.
Your wedding day goes so quickly, so I want you to spend it with the ones you love, safe in the knowledge that your wedding day story is being captured, honestly and beautifully.
I have a documentary style, so apart from a handful of group photographs and some stunning natural portraits of the two of you, I want to blend in with your guests and capture the moments of real, raw connection, of which there is plenty at a wedding.
You’ll receive a set of photographs that take you back in time, reminding you just how you felt in the moment, and that you’ll look back on and cherish forever.
“THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. YOU ARE AMAZING.
we are so grateful”
Bristol Weddings are wonderful
Having lived down on the harbour-side in Hotwells until a few years ago, I used to spend a lot of time down on Bristol’s harbourside, paddle boarding up alongside Spike Island and the Brunel’s SS Great Britain, cycling up to the river Avon estuary to Wapping Wharf for a cider or down to Ashton Court with friends if I fancied escaping into the countryside.
Some of my favourite Bristol wedding venues include Arnos Vale, The Forge, Goldney Hall and Coombe Lodge. There are some fabulous venues just slightly further afield in nearby Bath and South Gloucestershire, too, most of which are easily accessible from Temple Meads station. I frequently shoot weddings at Bristol City Council’s register office, where I often take clients to St Nicholas Market or Castle Park for photos afterwards.
When I first moved to Bristol city from the depths of the countryside, I was thrilled with the vast amount of culture on the doorstep, from Banksy street art on Park Street to theatre at Bristol Old Vic, Colston Hall or the Hippodrome to checking out the wonderful galleries of the Arnolfini, Watershed or the M Shed Museum.
Tips for Wedding Photos in Bristol
Bristol is one of the most visually rich cities in the UK for wedding photography, and choosing the right locations can make a huge difference to the feel of your images.
Iconic Bristol Backdrops
For iconic Bristol backdrops, it’s hard to beat the area around Clifton Observatory and the Suspension Bridge — it’s instantly recognisable and can be an absolutely outstanding spot for photographs at golden hour.
The Cumberland Basin offers another incredible vantage point, with views of the Avon Gorge, the colourful Hotwells houses and the bridge all in one frame.
Spike Island and the Harbourside are perfect for classic Bristol character – multicoloured terraces, boats on the water, graffiti and industrial architecture near the M Shed.
Corn Street and St Nick’s Market give that classic urban feel (just expect lots of people in the background!). Clifton Village’s Georgian streets are stunning and generally calmer and more elegant.
If you want more nature-based backdrops, I’d recommend Ashton Court, Brandon Hill and the Bristol Downs. Brandon Hill and the Observatory are standout spots for sunset portraits overlooking this amazing city.
Bristol Travel Logistics
Logistics are worth thinking about when planning wedding photos in Bristol.
Travelling by car can be slow and unpredictable, and parking is limited in many residential areas (which are mostly now permitted), so building extra time into your schedule helps keep things relaxed.
Bristol’s buses are frequent and useful for moving between locations (plus you’ll get lots of attention on a bus on your wedding day!).
Last year, my clients hired a boat from the harbourside and took a cruise along the River Avon with their guests. They tied the knot at the Register Office, and then, with their guests, they walked through the city streets, passed the Old Vic and caught the boat next to the Apple.
As a photographer, Bristol is a cool city in which to get creative. Wide lenses work beautifully for cool cityscapes, and longer lenses and wide apertures can isolate you against Bristol’s textures, colours and crowds! In busy areas, using a slower shutter speed while you stand still can create striking images with pedestrians flowing around you — a way in which to capture the energy of the city as part of your wedding photos.
Happy Bristol Wedding Clients
“Becky we are OBSESSED!!!! Wow 🤩 thank you so so much!!!!!”
“Thank you SO much for this gallery. These photos are honestly amazing and we had such a lovely time reliving the day through looking at all the photos.
We absolutely love them.
So many of our guests have commented how they can’t believe you got all these photos, and they don’t remember you even being around to take them!”
“We would 100% recommend Becky without hesitation!”
“We met Becky at a wedding fair and knew straight away that she was perfect for us. We didn’t want heaps of posed photos so were looking for somebody who shared our relaxed approach and would just capture the fun in our day.
On the day itself Becky was an absolute star.
We had a few organised family photos but we honestly just forgot about her for the most of the day (sorry Becky!) but this meant we got exactly the sort of shots that we wanted.
We would 100% recommend Becky without hesitation!”
“we haven’t stopped crying.
thank you, Becky”

Stunning Photographs in and around Bristol
We have our favourite spots to take visiting friends and family – be it a walk at Blaise Castle or across the Downs, a night out up Corn Street, or Whiteladies Road and a day shopping at Cribbs Causeway or Cabot Circus. You can’t beat quiz night at the river Avon’s Grain Barge (we even won once!) or the epic views from Cabot Tower. We still like booking a table at one of the several speakeasy-type bars on an occasional weekend off or taking a wander along Gloucester Road, which has endless independent and ethical shops to explore. Stokes Croft is renowned for being arty and alternative and is such an example of Bristol’s hipster culture. The Apple Cider bar in Bristol Harbour is somewhere my husband took us on one of our first-ever dates and is a classic Bristol spot.
Clifton village is a firm favourite too. I once managed all my Christmas shopping in the Clifton Arcade, and you can’t beat a stroll over the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge, which hangs majestically over the Avon Gorge. Come up to Clifton during the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta, and the sky will be filled with colourful hot air balloons. Whilst the iconic Bristol Zoo has now closed, the Wild Place has now opened and sits on a larger site near Almondsbury.
My husband and I are big into our music. Bristol’s summer festivals and plethora of music venues (The Fleece and Louisiana being a couple of my favourites!) make it possible for us to watch some pretty awesome live music regularly. One of our favourite ever gigs was seeing Elton John at Ashton Gate Stadium, we parked in Bedminster and joined thousands of other people walking over to the venue. Bristol has a lively Swing Dance scene too, which we enjoyed before we had children.
Before becoming a wedding photographer, I trained to be a nurse at the University of the West of England and lived at the Glenside Campus near Frenchay. I was fortunate enough to work at both the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead hospitals during my nursing career. Bristol has two universities, including Bristol University, and therefore has many students.

One of my favourite things about being a Bristolian is how much diversity and equality this awesome city celebrates. Bristol Pride is a real nod to this, with over 40,000 attendees last year. I pride (excuse the pun!) myself on being an LGBTQIA+ friendly supplier and not only include but CELEBRATE LGBTQIA+ couples and their family/friends.
Bristol is one of the top 10 vegan-friendly cities and won the European Green Capital Award in 2015. It was also nominated the “Best City in Britain to Live” by the Sunday Times.
If you’re after something alternative to get up to, why not go to the annual Naked Bike Ride, which takes over Bristol’s streets for a day every summer?!
