A Wedding at

St George’s Bristol

I was thrilled with Hope and Oscar asked me to be their St George’s Bristol wedding photographer.

Having seen my portfolio they had decided that my natural, documentary approach and a love of capturing real feeling and emotion was what they had been searching for.

The architecture around Bristol’s famous Park Street is beautiful, and St George’s is no exception. By evening, the venue was lit up with hundreds of fairy lights which looked incredible in all the dancing shots.

The absolutely highlight of the day for me was being able to take my clients up to Brandon Hill as the sun was setting, where we captured some incredibly golden hour portraits.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer you can find my full list of prices here, and I also offer film packages too.

The Clients Said…

“OH MY GOD THEY ARE AMAZING!

Thank you so much for sharing those! We are reliving it all in Bath and it was so great to see some pictures – golden hour looks fabulous!

We have shared the link with parents so no doubt it will be flying around family and friends!

Thank you so much ❤️ “

A Bristol Wedding Story

Hope and Oscar’s wedding at St Mary’s Church, Stoke Bishop, was a beautiful affair, but there was one character who added an unexpected twist to the day: the grumpy vicar. From the moment the guests arrived, it was clear he was not having any of the usual wedding cheer. His furrowed brow and no-nonsense demeanour made everyone chuckle quietly as they filed into the stunning old church. But, if anything, his gruff attitude only added to the charm of the day, making Hope and Oscar’s ceremony one for the memory books!

As the bridal procession began, the vicar decided to take centre stage, walking ahead of the bride, arms crossed and lips pursed. But despite his stern face, the moment Hope stepped into the church, it was as if all the tension melted away—at least for the guests! Oscar, waiting at the altar with a beaming smile, could hardly contain his joy, Hope and her father glided down the aisle. The vicar’s deep, commanding voice as he led the vows was a stark contrast to the warm glow of the couple’s love, but somehow, it worked. By the time they exchanged rings, he even managed a smile. Fortunately, the wedding guests brought the joy in abundance.

After the “I do’s” were said and the rings exchanged, Hope and Oscar shared their first kiss as newlyweds. Everyone cheered and clapped, the energy was unreal. As they turned to leave the church, confetti was thrown by guests as they welcomed the newly-weds into married life.

After the ceremony, I arranged the immediate family members outside the beautiful green church doors for some family photographs. Everyone else made their way to St George’s Bristol, which was transformed into a stunning reception space. The décor was simple but beautiful. With fairy lights in abundance and beautiful floral arrangements with a loose blue colour scheme. The buzz of conversation filled the downstairs lobby as guests sipped on champagne, munched on canapes, and spilled out into the grounds outside the old church venue.

Once the hungry guests had been seated the meal was served. Everyone tucked into a delicious feast of food on long harvest-style tables under the fairy lights.

The speeches were a highlight of the evening, with heartfelt words from the father of the bride, the best man, and the bride herself.  Oscar’s speech, in particular, was a perfect blend of sentimentality and humour, as he spoke about the long journey him and Hope had been on to get to this day.

As the sun began to set, it was time for some truly magical golden hour photos at Brandon Hill. Hope was dead keen on some photos at sunset and Oscar had been less keen. Hope practically ran up the hill as I warned her that the light was fading fast. Once we reached the top, it was evident how spectacular the light was going to look as it set over Bristol city. I decided to show Oscar some of what I was capturing on the back of my camera. He was truly blown away and immediately realised that it had been worth the time and effort to climb to the top of the park! The couple, glowing with happiness, strolled hand in hand through the park, with the iconic Cabot Tower in the background. The golden light bathed them in a soft, warm glow.

Back at the reception, the band had arrived, and they had an issue. The drummer had unfortunately been caught in a car accident on the way to the event and the guitarists and singer were without the drums! Fortunately, the drummer was safe, the issue was quickly resolved and it wasn’t long before the band got started. The newly-weds had already cut the cake and though they hoped to sneak away for a private first dance, the wedding guests had cottoned on and quickly arrived to watch them spin around the dance floor! Fortunately for the bride and groom, the guests couldn’t be kept off the dancefloor for long, and soon enough everyone was wildly dancing and shaking to the beat of the music. The atmosphere was nothing short of electric as everyone hit the dance floor to celebrate with the newlyweds.
