Lyndsey and Shay — A beautiful wedding at Peterstone Court
I’m always thrilled when a couple book me to be their Peterstone Court Wedding Photographer. Peterstone Court is one of the most beautiful country house wedding venues near Brecon, tucked beneath the Brecon Beacons and surrounded by incredible Welsh scenery. I’ve photographed relaxed, personal weddings here that make the most of the lovingly decorated house and panoramic views over the Bannau Brycheiniog. This page shares a real Peterstone Court wedding alongside my natural, documentary approach to the venue.
Peterstone Court, a Wedding Venue in the Brecon Beacons
Peterstone Court Wedding Venue is a Grade II*-listed, family-owned manor house in Llanhamlach, near Brecon in South Wales, set within ten acres of gardens with views towards the Brecon Beacons. The venue has a calm and intimate vibe, which suits natural, documentary wedding photography. Couples can plan a laid-back three-day spa weekend, a grand outdoor wedding ceremony, or a smaller, intimate gathering of just 25 guests. The Powys venue supports celebrations that feel personal and unhurried.
The house itself has elegant interiors, with generous windows allowing in lots of natural light, making it perfect for unobtrusive photography. As a photographer familiar with Peterstone Court’s exclusive-use weddings, I know how the light shifts across the house and grounds and how the day naturally flows through each space – from bridal preparations in the bedrooms, to ceremonies indoors or out in the gardens, to evening celebrations within the main house.
Couples who choose this South Wales wedding venue often prioritise time with their guests, great food from the 5* restaurant and a relaxed pace. My experience photographing weddings at Peterstone Court means I can work quietly in the background, using the ten-acre grounds and beautiful indoor spaces to capture the connections and small, in-between moments that create the true story of your wedding day.
Wedding Ceremonies and Peterstone Court
Peterstone Court is licensed for civil ceremonies both inside the main house and outdoors in the stunning gardens, with views over the fabulous Bannau Brycheiniog.
For couples considering a church ceremony, there are several churches nearby, particularly St Peter & St Illtyd in Llanhamlach, just a short drive from your reception at Peterstone Court.
A perfect location in the Brecon Beacons
The layout of the manor house creates an easy flow between ceremony, drinks reception and wedding breakfast, with guests moving easily between indoor and outdoor areas. The ten-acre grounds and landscaped gardens are ideal for short portrait walks without taking you away from your guests for long.
Weather flexibility is another strength of a Peterstone Court wedding. If plans move indoors, the Grade II*-listed interiors remain bright and photogenic in every season. With the added benefit of the on-site spa, 5* dining and exclusive-use setting and bedrooms in which your guests can stay and relax, the venue supports both the practical side of the day and the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere many engaged couples are looking for when getting married in South Wales.

A Real Wedding at Peterstone Court
The morning began quietly at Lindsay’s home in Madley, Herefordshire, where she was finishing her hair and makeup and stepping into her bridal gown when I arrived.
Before long, her bridesmaids turned up, and together the bridal party made the short walk across the road to Madley Church. Inside, the ceremony felt warm and personal, with a vicar who created a joyful, relaxed atmosphere for the couple to exchange vows. After signing the register, Lindsay and Shay paused for a private moment tucked around the side of the church whilst I organised guests outside, ready with confetti. The newlyweds re-emerged through the main doors into a joyful tunnel of colour, followed by hugs, congratulations and a handful of relaxed group photographs in the main church door.
The couple travelled to Peterstone Court in a classic London black cab carrying them through the beautiful countryside past Brecon and into the Brecon Beacons. Being a chilly April day, the drinks reception took place inside the house and felt cosy and lively. Fortunately, it wasn’t raining, so we stepped outside to make the most of Peterstone Court’s stunning views and landscaped gardens for portraits, the mountains providing a stunning backdrop.
After the wedding breakfast, guests gathered again on the front steps for more photographs before we slipped away into the tiered gardens at the back of the venue and caught a splash of golden evening light.
As dusk settled, everyone stepped outside once more by the pool, where my videographer Josh captured a wide drone photograph of the entire group set against the backdrop of the venue itself.
We went back inside and straight into cake cutting and dancing, with Shay even treating us to a song or two!
Photography at Peterstone Court
The best thing about being a Peterstone Court Wedding Photographer, for me, is the stunning views over the Brecon Beacons. You only have to go out to the back of the venue, onto the terrace, for incredible portraits with the stunning mountain range behind. This spot also captures the setting sun, so it is perfect for golden hour portraits of the two of you on your wedding day.
If you want even more spectacular portraits, why not schedule in time for some epic portraits up on the mountains themselves? With on-site accommodation, a break in the day could be planned, where guests get to freshen up and unwind, while we head off into the mountains for some incredible portraits with the mountains as a backdrop. I could use a wide-angle lens or drone to capture you within the stunning Welsh scenery, or a portrait lens to separate you from the background, creating beautiful bokeh and stunning depth of field.
Peterstone Court Weddings – Frequently Asked Questions
Do you photograph lots of weddings here?
Yes! I work at Peterstone Court and lots of other nearby venues, I am based in Herefordshire, so frequently photograph weddings all over Brecon, Powys and the Welsh borders.
What style works best?
My style is mostly documentary and informal, I’m keen for my clients to have the most relaxed and enjoyable wedding day as possible! Of course, Peterstone Court and the Brecon Beacons are stunning places for photographs, so we will slip away for short bursts once or twice during the day to capture the two of you in the beautiful surrounding scenery.
When is the best time for portraits?
When the wedding coordinator calls guests in to be seated for the meal, this is a great time for us to sneak off for a few portraits in the garden or main house, while guests get settled and use the bathroom. You’ll then be announced in before the meal begins. Hopefully, there will be nice light at Golden Hour, and we can sneak off for some more pictures here, too.
If you’re keen to get some photographs in the Brecon Beacons National Park, we can either plan this into your day or arrange for another portrait session the day before or after your wedding.
Do you offer packages for this venue?
Just like Peterstone Court, I offer different packages. I shoot lots of intimate weddings and offer micro-wedding packages as well as full day packages. I also offer mid-week discounts too!

I work in a calm, unobtrusive way, giving people space to be themselves, whether that’s a big celebration or an intimate micro wedding.
My approach is natural, honest, and documentary-led, creating photographs that allow you to return to the emotion of your day for years to come.
I regularly photograph weddings across Powys, Brecon and the Welsh borders, and absolutely love working at Peterstone Court.
