A Wedding at
St Tewdrics House
When I first met Emma and Adrian at their engagement shoot, we instantly clicked. They were fun, laid-back and full of joy, and wanted this to be reflected in their wedding photographs, so I was thrilled when they chose me to be their St Tewdrics House wedding photographer.
They got married on a beautiful June day, the sun was shining and the wildflower meadow was in full bloom.
Everyone was over the moon that their ceremony was able to take place outside under the stunning pergoda with views over the Severn Estuary.
The day was full of laughter, love and oysters!
Here’s a handful of my favourite photographs from the day.
The Clients Said…
Becky is the most incredible wedding photographer!
Not only are her photos beautiful but she has such a lovely, calm, friendly manner and she will honestly just feel like one of your guests who happens to have a camera.

The Wedding
The Bride, Emma, and her bridesmaids were busy getting ready in Caban Y Coed on my arrival. This custom designed dressing room has three make-up stations, a lounge and kitchen area, private changing room, and large floor-to-ceiling windows. It is the perfect space to spend your wedding morning. Hair stylists and make-up artists were busy finishing their work as I took a stroll around the venue to capture some scene setting stills, before the wedding guests arrived.
Shortly after my arrival, the bridal party moved over to the Cariad honeymoon suite to get changed into bridesmaids’ dresses and to help Emma put on her bridal gown. The bride had opted for electric blue 6-inch hells, and they looked amazing! Though I really admired her bravely wearing such high heels on her wedding day!
After we took a few portraits in the beautiful Cariad suite ,the girls watched excitedly out the window while Adrian, the groom, his best man and ushers showed wedding guests to their seats ahead of the wedding ceremony.
Registrars arrived from Monmouthshire registration service, and before long the father of the bride was walking Emma down the aisle.
The couple had a simple legal ceremony followed by a more personal blessing led by their friend and celebrant.
Once the ceremony was complete, the newly-weds were welcomed by wedding coordinator Nichola back at the house. I lined guests up ready for the confetti toss and the new Mr and Mrs were welcomed into their new married lives together by being showered in confetti.
During the drinks reception Emma had arranged a surprise Oyster bar. Her family were big into oysters and she had hand-sewn them each a bib to keep their wedding clothes clean, ahead of the messy snack! Champagne and canapes were also served and the bottle bar was opened. Guests enjoyed the surrounding views during the drinks reception. After a little time to mingle and be congratulated by guests, we got organised to take some more formal, family photos.
By now ,the Courtyard had been prepared for the wedding breakfast and the wedding coordinator called the bride and groom in to see how the room had been decorated. It looked stunning and the couple were overwhelmed by how amazing all their ideas looked.
As wedding guests were called in to be seated for their meal, Emma, Adrian, videographer Josh, and I took a stroll around the grounds of St Tewdrics to capture some informal portraits of the two of them. The wildflower meadow was in full bloom and looked stunning in the gentle breeze.
I gave the couple some gentle posing direction, but always encourage clients to try and enjoy a little alone time amidst the crazy atmosphere of their wedding day.
There is a beautiful big swing hanging from a large tree in the grounds of St Tewdrics, and the newly-weds enjoyed a little swing together as they caught up about their day so far.
The wedding breakfast was served and after guests had devoured their three-course meal, the father of the bride, groom, bride and best-man all delivered hilarious and touching speeches.
Tea, coffee and cake were served outside, as the St Tewdrics staff turned the room around for the evening, and the band got get up ready for the party.
The newly married couple were announced into the Courtyard once guests had gathered and after the cake had been cut, they took their first dance as the band played out. It wasn’t long before the dance floor was packed with guests, and everyone was dancing and having a whale of a time!
St Tewdrics House Wedding Venue
St Tewdrics House is an incredible venue tucked away just outside the Monmouthshire town of Chepstow.
From its 10-acre grounds there are spectacular views over the Severn estuary and Pont Hafren (Severn Bridge).
This luxury, grade II listed, Italianate villa was built in the 19th century and taken over by Geraint and Sara Thomas as a family-owned wedding venue, after their own nuptials were held there in 2013.
The wedding venue is available for exclusive hire, is multi award winning and has multiple different spaces in which to host your wedding. Despite feeling modern, fresh and full of light, the venue benefits from period features and exposed original stone walls. Crystal chandeliers and large windows flood the rooms with light. There is also a large glass skylight in the Courtyard, which can be used to conduct your wedding ceremony and host your wedding breakfast.
Other available spaces include the Drawing Room, which is suitable for smaller wedding ceremonies or as a quiet space for wedding guests to relax. If the weather is fine, then the Ty Haf pergola is a popular option and is licensed for civil ceremonies. There is a large family kitchen which is available for all residing guests to use. There are multiple guests suites throughout the house and the Lodge. In total, St Tewdrics House can accommodate up to 18 guests overnight and up to 150 day guests.
