A Micro-Wedding on
Clevedon Pier
It so much fun when I’m asked to be a client’s Clevedon Pier wedding photographer. This quirky and unique venue always attracts the coolest clients, and I just love to shoot there!
Clevedon Pier is such a stunning place to get married, with gorgeous Victorian architecture and seaside views.
Being a smaller venue, clients often book me for one of my micro-wedding packages. Often wanting enough coverage to capture their ceremony, drinks reception, group photographs, some couple’s portraits, and maybe some speeches too!
The Client’s said…
“We would recommend Becky to everyone!
From the start Becky put us at ease, through our calls and chats she was keen to understand what we wanted, and very understanding when we both said we struggle having our pictures taken! She was quick to reply to emails and we felt we were in a safe pair of hands.
Becky is true to her word of being subtle on the day but also making sure we got what we wanted shot wise, we never felt like we had to remind her etc – she was all over everything but in a very respectful and informative way.
Becky was a pro start to finish, all over the detail and a really lovely energy to have around on the big day. We would 10/10 recommend.“
Clevedon Pier Wedding Venue
Clevedon Pier, an elegant Victorian landmark on the Somerset coast, is a stunning wedding venue that combines historic charm with breathtaking views. Its ironwork structure and graceful lines create a spectacular setting over the Severn Estuary, offering a unique backdrop for micro-weddings.
The pier is often described as one of the most beautiful in England. Couples and their guests can enjoy panoramic views stretching toward the South Wales coastline, with a soundtrack of gentle waves and a sea breeze as they say their I dos. The venue offers multiple spaces to host up to 30 guests, including the Porthole room, the Glass Box and the Pier head itself.
The Porthole Room, a cosy, light-filled room at the end of the pier, is perfect for a private reception or ceremony, with large windows that open directly to the sea. The Glass Box is the Pier’s latest addition, a contemporary glass design which boasts panoramic views of the Pier and a quicker walk back to the car on a windy day!
The pier’s staff are experienced in hosting weddings and ensures that every detail, from decorations to catering, aligns with the couple’s vision. The venue’s proximity to Clevedon’s historic town means guests can explore its pretty streets, lined with boutiques and small, local businesses, cafes, hotels and those with a brave spirit can even take a swim in Clevedon’s Marine Lake.
Clevedon Pier provides a beautifully distinctive venue that is sure to wow guests and provide an incredible backdrop for unforgettable wedding day memories.
Top tips for Photos at Clevedon Pier
We’d like to get married on the Pier Head; is that possible?
Yes, it is! But it is weather-dependent. The Pier does occasionally have to close due to high winds, but this is incredibly rare. This did happen to my clients once, and they had their ceremony in the porthole room instead.
What sort of coverage do you offer?
My style is mostly documentary and informal, I’m keen for my clients to have the most relaxed and enjoyable wedding day as possible! I offer a range of packages from full-day coverage to micro-weddings (which typically suits clients getting married at Clevedon Pier best).
When is the best time for portraits?
As the Pier faces west out onto the Severn Estuary, it is best placed for getting gorgeous evening / golden hour light! If there is minimal cloud, this is an incredible time for portraits out on the Pier itself or over on the beach, with the Pier forming the backdrop.
What else should we know about Clevedon Pier?
The Pier floor is made of slatted wood, so there’s a small (and maybe exciting?!) risk that your rings could fall down into the sea during the exchange!
The glass box seats up to 30 people for a meal and 40 for a buffet.
Lots of clients like to have their drinks reception and photographs out on the Pier Head.
The Pier itself makes for stunning photographs with beautiful lead-in lines. It’s also a very long aisle walk!!

A Somerset Seaside Wedding Day
Lorraine and Stuart hosted their summer micro-wedding on Clevedon Pier in Somerset. Their 30 guests arrived ahead of the bride, and after greeting the groom, made their way up the 310 meter long pier to their seats at the Pier head. Fortunately, the weather was fine, so the ceremony had been set up to take place outside.
Once all the guests had arrived, Stuart and his best man made their way along the pier, joined by two jovial registrars from Bristol Register Office. As a Bristol Wedding Photographer, I often work with registrars from the register office and get to know them well.
Lorraine and her maid of honour were assisted out of the wedding car by the wedding coordinator and made their way up the particularly long aisle! Fishermen were packing up their rods and grinned at the pair as they giggled happily.
Stuart was overwhelmed by emotion on seeing his bride and the two exchanged happy and emotional vows before exchanging their rings. There was a nerve-wracking moment as the best man got out the ring, which could have easily been plunged into the Severn Estuary had it fallen through the wooden slats of the pier!
Fortunately, all was well, and the couple were soon pronounced husband and wife and shared their first kiss as a married couple. The registers were signed and the ceremony drawn to a close before the newlyweds made their way back down the aisle.
Canapes and prosecco were served on the Pier head and guests hugged and congratulated Stuart and Lorraine. Lorraine had bought several confetti canons which looked incredible as the guests showered the couple with confetti! We took a handful of group photographs before the guests made their way up to the Glass Box for the wedding breakfast.
Stuart, Lorraine and I hung about the Pier head for some newly-wed portraits. I was able to use the stunning Victorian architecture and seaside views to frame the couple and helped them to feel relaxed and at ease in front of the camera.
