Priston Mill Wedding

A Bath Wedding Venue

If you’re looking for a countryside wedding venue near Bath, Priston Mill is an amazing choice! I always love it when clients choose me to be their Priston Mill wedding photographer. Tucked away in a little valley on the Duchy of Cornwall’s Newton Park Estate, just outside Bath and within easy reach of Bristol, Priston Mill feels really rural but is actually super convenient for travelling guests.

Priston Mill has beautiful, characterful stone buildings, views across the Somerset countryside, and well-kept gardens that work perfectly for drinks receptions and your wedding pictures.

Two Distinct Spaces: The Tythe Barn & The Watermill

One of the things that makes Priston Mill so appealing is that it offers two very different wedding options.

The Tythe Barn

The Tythe Barn is the larger of the two. Vaulted ceilings, exposed stone walls and large open space, it’s great for bigger celebrations (up to around 150 guests). It has a classic barn feel — rustic but some gorgeous light flooding in from large windows at one side. It works perfectly for ceremonies, wedding breakfasts and evening celebrations all in one place.

The Watermill

The Watermill is smaller and more intimate, and seats up to around 90 guests. It is surrounded by pretty gardens. Couples can get married under the outdoor pergola, which looks beautiful in photos.

Both spaces are licensed for civil ceremonies, so you can keep everything in one place, which always helps the day flow and feel relaxed.

Why Couples Choose to get Married at Priston Mill

Priston Mill is stunning, conveniently located to two cities and because it hosts tens of weddings every year, the staff are well in control of everything your wedding needs. The buildings themselves have texture and character of an old Somerset building, making them beautiful backdrops for your wedding photos.

The gardens, stone walls and countryside views look lush all year round.

For anyone planning a wedding near Bath, Priston Mill is definitely worth considering.

On-Site Accommodation for Morning Preparations

Couples can now use Priston Mill’s on-site farmhouse accommodation to get ready on the morning of their wedding. The venue recently renovated the Farmhouse and Coach House.

This new addition is perfect for couples who want to stay all in the same place throughout the day. You and your bridal party can wake up right at the venue, enjoy breakfast together and use the space for hair, makeup and pre-wedding preparations ahead of the day.

If you’re keen for a relaxed, stress-free wedding, Priston Mill has it covered — this new space is perfect for candid getting-ready photos, which I love to capture.

Food, Planning & Chilled Vibes

Priston Mill provides in-house catering, and the food is always delicious! You can choose from many wedding breakfast options, canapés and evening food.

You’ll also be given a dedicated wedding coordinator, which makes the planning process seamless and makes you feel really supported.

On the day itself, from experience, the team are amazing at running things smoothly and keeping everything feeling calm behind the scenes.

The Practicalities of Getting Married at Priston Mill

The venue hosts  50 to 150 guests, depending on which space you choose. There are usually minimum guest numbers for Saturday bookings, and sometimes discounts for midweek or winter weddings.

There is a small amount of on-site accommodation in a restored farmhouse. Most couples stay in nearby Bath, and couples frequently run a bus at closing time for guests travelling back for overnight accommodation.

Priston Mill – Frequently Asked Questions

Do you photograph lots of weddings here?

Yes! I’ve shot at Priston Mill lots (and also been a bridesmaid there twice, too!). So I know the venue well and all the best spots for photos.

What style works best?
My style is mostly documentary and informal, I’m keen for my clients to have the most relaxed and enjoyable wedding day as possible! With everything being on site, Priston Mill weddings can be super relaxed and informal, if that’s the vibe you’re going go.

When is the best time for portraits?
The best time is when your guests are being seated for the wedding breakfast, that way we can use the beautiful venues as a backdrop for your photos, without lots of guests milling about in the background. If we get a nice golden hour, we can head up into the nearby fields for some epic sunset shots, yippee!

Do you offer packages for this venue?

Yes! I love photographing weddings at Priston Mill, and I offer micro-wedding packages as well as full-day packages. I also offer mid-week discounts!

The Wedding Venue

Priston Mill is a 10th-century watermill in the pretty, unassuming village of Priston, just outside Bath. Alongside the Mill is the Tythe Barn, which also hosts weddings. Both venues are Grade II listed, are steeped in history and have been beautifully restored to create gorgeous wedding venues.

The Watermill boasts three floors with limewashed walls, exposed timbers, and numerous pretty turquoise window frames with grey slate sills. On sunny days, guests can spill out onto the wooden terrace and enjoy the gardens and millpond. There are cosy seating areas for guests to relax, and of course, a pretty stream and the huge iron waterwheel!

The Tythe Barn can accommodate slightly larger weddings, but isn’t dissimilar in décor. It has exposed stone walls and a mezzanine floor with comfy sofas, allowing guests a spot to rest their weary feet after all that dancing! With its 15-metre-high vaulted roof, this wonderful space feels vast. Alongside the main barn sits a cosier Parlour with further seating, a cast-iron stove, and hundreds of atmospheric fairy lights.

I absolutely love shooting weddings at Priston Mill. This wonderful venue really suits my style of Bath wedding photography, and if you’re getting married at Priston, I would love to hear your plans

Becky Weir Photography – Priston Mill Wedding Photographer

Becky, Your Photographer

I’m Becky, a Herefordshire-based wedding photographer drawn to real connection, quiet moments, and the emotional undercurrent of a wedding day.

My background in nursing, and my own experiences of love and loss, mean I photograph with deep sensitivity and care — always tuned in to how a day feels, not just how it looks.

I work in a calm, unobtrusive way, giving people space to be themselves, whether that’s a big celebration or an intimate micro wedding.

My approach is natural, honest, and documentary-led, creating photographs that allow you to return to the emotion of your day for years to come.
I regularly photograph weddings across Somerset, Bath and Bristol, and I love to capture weddings at Pirston Mill
