Documenting a Wiltshire Wedding

It was wonderful to be asked to be K&B’s Pear Tree, Purton Wedding photographer earlier this year.

This Wiltshire wedding venue is full of natural light, has beautifully landscaped gardens and lots of different indoor spaces that allow your wedding day to flow from one room to another, perfect for this February wedding!

K&B wanted a relaxed, informal wedding day with lots of natural photographs of them and their wedding guests having a good time. They both admitted to feeling self-conscious in front of the camera, but we worked together to grow their confidence and I’m absoutely thrilled with the look of their gallery!

One of my favourite things about this wedding was the colour scheme and beautiful flowers by Nicole from The Florals Studio, Purton. Nicole put together a mix of fresh and dried foliage in oranges and reds. I love how the colours carry through the gallery of images, tying everything neatly together, just gorgeous!

The Pear Tree, Purton was a pleasure to work at. I loved all the different spaces available for photographs, there was so much variety to choose from in terms of backdrops. I can’t wait to work there again in the coming months.

The Clients Said…

Becky, what can we say other than “Thank You” so, so much for being such a wonderful photographer for our Wedding Day.

Neither of us are particularly confident with photos of ourselves as you know, but right from the engagement shoot through to the Wedding you were so supportive and encouraging and helped us to just relax and enjoy ourselves and leave the photos to you.

We love them so, so much and couldn’t wait to share them with everyone (which is very unlike us!). We have already had so many comments on how fantastic they are and how pleasant and lovely you were to everyone who met you.

You truly captured the joy of the day and we are incredibly grateful we will forever have these to look back on and remember such a wonderful day.

The Wedding

B&K had spent such a lot of time thinking about all the little details of their wedding. From their life-size cut out of their dog Olive (who was far too excited to attend!) to their personalised ring boxes and their matching Mr and Mrs Converse. So when I first arrived, I took some time to take some photos of their details before capturing both bride and groom getting ready. Ben’s groomsmen helped him into his suit and cufflinks. I helped Ben into his shoes. Then we took a couple of portraits before I headed upstairs to the bride and her bridesmaids who were having the finished touches to their hair and make-up.

Like most of the Pear Tree wedding venue, Cascade (the dressing room), has plenty of natural light to play with. The angled windows were perfect for creating beautiful portraits of K, using soft side light from the window with beautiful fall off, creating dark shadows behind her.

The couple had chosen an autumnal colour pallet and mixed deep reds, burnt oranges and eucalyptus with dried grasses for the bouquets, buttonholes and table flowers. They were absolutely divine!

B&K tied the knot in the ceremony room, named Blossom. After they’d said their vows, exchanged rings and signed the register, their wedding guests welcomed them into married life as they walked down the garden staircase and into their new lives together.

Being February, the reception drinks were held in the bar but as it was dry, and because they were keen, we took their group photographs outside the front entrance of the house.

Afterwards, to make the most of the venue’s grounds, we headed around to the Garden Pavilion for portraits, where the bride and groom took a moment away from their guests, caught up with one another and had a little time to absorb all the big feelings of their wedding day.

It was time to head back in and warm up in the Orangery with the wedding breakfast and speeches. The couple had arranged an impressive Gin bar for their wedding guests and after cake cutting they shared their first dance.

After capturing some of my favourite moments on the dancefloor, we snuck outside to the garden pavilion in the dark. I set up some off-camera flashes to fire behind the couple. This created rim light behind them and made them pop from the background. Shooting with my aperture wide open created bokeh from the fairy lights adorning the pavilion and that, combined with K’s floaty dress, created some awesome night portraits to end the wedding gallery.
