Treadam Barn Photography – Documentary, with a gentle nudge

If you’re planning a wedding at Treadam Barn and looking for a photographer who will capture it naturally and unobtrusively, you’re in exactly the right place.

Treadam Barn is beautifully restored, surrounded by stunning Monmouthshire countryside, and unusually (for a barn wedding venue) has lots of natural light.

My approach is documentary-led, relaxed and designed to allow you to enjoy your day. Your wedding will not be a photoshoot. Instead, I work in the background, letting the day unfold naturally.

A Beautiful Barn Venue in Monmouthshire

Treadam Barn is beautifully hidden in the Monmouthshire countryside, a short drive from Abergavenny, and not far from the striking Skirrid and Sugar Loaf mountains. It’s a beautiful barn, with an interesting history that the owner is sure to tell you all about! It’s unusual in that there are big windows and, therefore, tons of natural light, making it very rare for a barn wedding venue.

Everything is on one site, which makes it super easy for couples – no rushing between venues or complicated logistics. Couples and their guests can enjoy a relaxed, happy day, and there is even a pool on site if the weather’s hot!

For photography, a relaxed setup means more authentic interactions, more time for fun, and more of those small in-between moments that are so much more meaningful than anything staged.

Ceremony options at Treadam Barn

The main barn is actually beautiful for your ceremony, because it is flooded with light and a dream for a photographer who tries to avoid using flash when possible. The stone walls and wooden beams are truly beautiful, and the barn really needs little decorating.

You can also plan an outdoor ceremony in the courtyard or surrounding grounds (weather permitting). The scenery is beautiful, especially in the summer.

Wedding photography in the Monmouthshire countryside

One of the joys of photographing a Treadam Barn wedding is stepping out for portraits in the stunning Welsh countryside. We can wander into the surrounding fields or along quiet country lanes, creating relaxed, natural images without taking you away from your guests for long.

I’ll gently guide you into good light and get you to feel relaxed, comfy and confident in front of my lens. No stiff posing. No awkward smiles. Just the two of you, taking a moment together while the sun drops behind the hills.

A Real Wedding at Treadam Barn

Gordon and Alison wanted a small, sweet wedding with their immediate loved ones to celebrate their love.

The vibe was short, informal, and relaxed, with a handful of group photographs to finish off.

When I arrived at Treadam Barn, just a short drive from where I live in South Herefordshire, I could see immediately why the couple chose it. Full of character, natural light, and sensational countryside all around. Exactly the kind of venue I love.

I arrived before any of the guests, but the registrars were there before me. I was made really welcome by the venue owners and it wasn’t long before guests started arriving and helped themselves to a drink.

Gordon, Alison and their two daughters were the last to arrive, and we soon headed in for the ceremony inside the main barn.

Alison had chosen a stunning wooden frame, decorated with flowers and fabric to frame the couple as they said their vows. Rings were exchanged, the registers signed, and it wasn’t long before the couple were pronounced married! The guests cheered and clapped as they headed back down the aisle.

Drinks were served from the bar hatch, and everyone hugged and congratulated the couple. After plenty of time for candid photographs of guests enjoying themselves, we took a handful of group photographs before I departed.

Photography at Treadam Barn

Treadam Barn is honestly one of the easiest barn venues I’ve ever worked at. It is so light and bright thanks to all those windows, and it’s a dream to capture pictures of guests inside it’s four walls.

Being a massive nature-lover, outside is a treat too, with beautiful, unspoilt countryside reaching far and wide.

The venue itself is super relaxed and informal, which suits my style and approach to a T. I really love shooting weddings at Treadam Barn.

Becky, Your Photographer

I’m Becky, a Herefordshire-based wedding photographer drawn to real connection, quiet moments, and the emotional undercurrent of a wedding day.

My background in nursing, and my own experiences of love and loss, mean I photograph with deep sensitivity and care — always tuned in to how a day feels, not just how it looks.

I work in a calm, unobtrusive way, giving people space to be themselves, whether that’s a big celebration or an intimate micro wedding.

My approach is natural, honest, and documentary-led, creating photographs that allow you to return to the emotion of your day for years to come.
I regularly photograph weddings across Herefordshire and Monmouthshire and love capturing weddings at Treadam Barn.
