Natalie and Adam’s Wedding
The Mill Barns Wedding Photographer
Do you ever meet someone and just hit it off straight away? Well that’s exactly what happened when I first met Natalie and Adam. This wonderful pair recently set up their wedding stylist business Bespoke Wedding Design and our stands just happened to be next to each other at The National Wedding show at Birmingham’s NEC.
One of the most wonderful things about working in the wedding industry is what a warm, friendly industry it is, and I’ve rarely left a wedding show without making new friends. After 3 days of being show neighbours, it was obvious that Natalie, Adam and I were going to keep in touch, but when they asked me to be their Mill Barns wedding photographer it really was the icing on the cake.
I knew from the off that this couple’s Mill Barns wedding was going to be pretty cool, not only is the setting absolutely PERFECT for a wedding but it was also their wedding styling business’ debut and I just KNEW it was going to look awesome.
Despite a busy morning decorating the venue, during Bridal preparations Natalie was as cool as a cucumber. One of Natalie’s two lovely sisters (and bridesmaids) had come all the way from New Zealand just for the wedding and it was wonderful to capture the love between them as a family that morning. My particular favourites include the moments her sisters help Natalie into her bridal gown, you can tell how close they are and how much they care for one another. It was even more moving when Natalie’s dad arrived to see her for the first time, ready to marry her love – his face speaks volumes about how proud he is of his beautiful girl.
The fully decorated venue looked absolutely epic once all the styling had been completed and I just had to pop out to take some decent photographs before the wedding guests arrived. If you’re unsure what to do about decorating your venue I highly recommend you go check out Bespoke Wedding Design. They might be a new company but they have MASSES of decorations, including an enormous wooden Love sign which Natalie made herself!
The ceremony itself was incredibly moving, Adam’s face when Natalie arrived really does say it all and the love between these special two was palpable. I absolutely love capturing those real, meaningful moments when couples and their loved ones are overcome with emotion and there was so many of these special moments during the ceremony.
I absolutely love the moment Adam grabs Natalie’s hand to punch the air in pure joy at having married the woman he adores.
As a Mill Barns wedding photographer some of my favourite things about this awesome venue is how light and airy it feels, even on a wintery day like the day Natalie and Adam tied the knot. The British weather always poses a bit of a worry, whatever time of year you get married, but with a venue this great there’s no need to panic if it decides to chuck it down all day. It has masses of space, including rooms on-site for guests to stay. There are two main halls, one of which is used for ceremonies and the other for the wedding reception, so there’s no need to distract your guests while the staff turn rooms around. There’s also an epic mezzanine foyer with vast glass windows and a balcony and decking looking over the lake and gardens – an awesome spot for group photographs and welcome drinks.
Natalie and Adam we lucky enough to have a dry day and so we snuck out for portraits right before the wedding breakfast and made the most of that gorgeous rustic cladding along the barn wall.
