Orchardleigh Wedding Photographer
Izzy and Will’s Somerset Wedding
My favourite thing about being Izzy and Will’s Orchardleigh wedding photographer was seeing the commitment from Izzy’s brother to be present for his sister’s wedding, despite the fact covid restrictions meant it was too difficult to attend in person.
I am not exaggerating when I say he was literally on video chat all day. Lots of weddings I photographed in 2021 had video streaming set up, but I kid you not, Izzy’s brother was even dancing with guests on the dancefloor via zoom! It was amazing to see such commitment and made the fact he couldn’t be there just that extra bit heartbreaking.
I also particularly loved the moment a peacock joined them for their portrait session and I always love it when a bride gives a speech!
The Clients Said…
“Aww thank you Becky! These look fab! Particularly love the confetti one, these look so good!
Thank you for being part of our day, you were so amazing!
So many people have said how they thought you were fab and absolutely everywhere getting the shots!”

The Big Day
When I first arrived at Orchardleigh I headed for Murtry Lodge where the groom, Will, and his best men were finishing ties, shoes and buttonholes before the wedding ceremony. Will had three best men, all of whom later gave a speech, which were a wonderful mix between hilarious and touching.
Later on that morning, I headed to the main Orchardleigh house to meet the Bride, Izzy and her bridesmaids in the bridal suite. Izzy was completely laid back and even writing her speech amidst hair and make-up whilst her bridesmaids cracked open the champagne.
One of my favourite moments of the ceremony was when Izzy had to pause as her father walked her down the aisle, as the site of Will at the alter made her overcome with emotion.
The ceremony itself was really retouching and it was apparent how made for eachother Izzy and Will are as they said their vows and exchanged rings.
Confetti was thrown on the lawn with the magnificent wedding venue behind and afterwards guests socialised, drank champagne and played lawn games during the drinks reception.
After dinner was served and speeches delivered in the Grand Ballroom, guests headed outside for sparklers before the celebrations culminated in everyone ending up on the dancefloor. Will even sang with the band for a song or two and I love the look on Izzy’s face as he performs.
The Venue
Orchardleigh is a private country estate in Somerset, just north of Frome. It comprises two wedding venues; Elmhay Park and the more traditional Orchardleigh house. It also has lakes, with an island church and an 18 hole golf course. Both venues are exclusive use and have accommodation for wedding guests before and after the wedding. Offering a late license, outdoor wedding ceremonies and dog friendly rooms, it has so much to offer!
Orchardleigh House is a 19th century stately home, nestled in 500 acres of parkland and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. A combination of Elizabethan and French styles known as ‘Nouveau-riche’ give this venue a grand, historic atmosphere. This wonderful Somerset wedding venue won’t fail o impress your wedding guests!
This wonderful wedding venue has so many choices when it comes to options for locations for your civil wedding ceremony.
Outdoors there’s the choice of the Belvedere, a vestibule type space overlooking the estate’s grounds and Somerset countryside beyond or the Woodland, a clearing amongst the trees for the nature-loving bride and groom.
The inside options comprises the Grand Ballroom and the Great Hall, both impressive spaces in which to say “I do”.-The bridal suite, known as “The Bonita Suite” within the house is one of the most impressive I’ve seen. With an enormous bay window with panoramic views over the landscaped gardens and epic views into the countryside beyond. It houses an enormous 4 poster bed to crash out in after a long night celebrating.
Once you’re ready for the day ahead, descend the impressive staircase before being given away to your spouse-to-be!
