Relaxed, Natural and Fun Malvern Wedding Photography
As a Malvern wedding photographer, I love capturing weddings that are informal, relaxed and full of personality. Malvern is a beautiful place to get married — a historic spa town in Worcestershire, nestled at the foot of the Malvern Hills and known for its stunning architecture and beautiful hills. I regularly photograph weddings in and around Malvern.
My approach to wedding photography is documentary and natural. Rather than directing heavily or staging moments, I work quietly in the background, allowing the day to unfold as it happens. This suits Malvern weddings perfectly, where couples are often drawn to the area for its scenery, sense of calm and the opportunity to spend real, uninterrupted time with the people they love, creating a day that feels unhurried and meaningful.
Whether it’s a small celebration or a larger gathering, my focus is always on capturing the atmosphere of the day — the connections, the fleeting in-between moments, and the details you might not notice at the time but will treasure later: your mum squeezing your hand before the ceremony, your partner’s expression during the speeches, the way your guests gather and laugh together with the Malvern Hills rising in the background. These are the moments that matter most, and the ones worth preserving forever
“THEY ARE BEAUTIFUL. YOU ARE AMAZING.
So, so grateful”
“we haven’t stopped crying.
thank you, Becky”
WHY COUPLES LOVE TO GET MARRIED IN MALVERN
Malvern is a beautiful town to work in as a wedding photographer. Nestled just beneath the Malvern Hills, it has beautiful Victorian and Edwardian architecture, leafy avenues and views across the Severn Valley. The town centre, with its classic facades and hill walking culture, offers lovely backdrops for photos, making Malvern a wonderful choice for a wedding that feels relaxed and scenic.
The Malvern Hills rise up behind the town, with iconic Worcestershire landscapes — perfect for couples who love big skies and stunning views. Landmarks such as Great Malvern Priory and the Winter Gardens are also beautiful backdrops for photos. There are also several wedding venues in the area, including Barns & Yard, The Lake House and The Abbey Hotel. Whether it’s portraits on the hills or quiet moments captured in the town’s gardens and historic streets, Malvern is a fabulous place to tie the knot and have your pictures.
Great Malvern railway station is on the direct line between Worcester and Hereford — and has easy connections for Birmingham and London too. This is super handy for travelling guests. There are also plenty of places for guests to stay in Malvern itself, a lot to see and do, all within walking distance of the town. It has a strong cultural heritage, and there is also a strong arts scene centred around Malvern Theatres. Guests can come and enjoy a weekend (or longer!) when coming to celebrate your wedding.

The History of Malvern, a Worcestershire Town
Malvern’s history is closely linked to its rise as a Victorian spa town in Worcestershire. During the 19th century, visitors flocked to Malvern to “take the waters,” (the natural spring water that flows from the Malvern Hills). The beautiful architecture present today (grand hotels and refined villas) is a stark reminder of that prosperous period, when Malvern became a fashionable retreat known for health, wellbeing and fresh air.
Great Malvern Priory sits in the heart of the town, with origins stretching back to the 11th century, anchoring Malvern’s much older monastic past. The Winter Gardens and Malvern Theatres are a nod to the town’s longstanding cultural tradition, while the hillside setting gives the streets a beautiful sense of being held by nature (and are a wonderful place to walk too!).
The Malvern Hills run alongside the town — an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There is a network of springs, walking routes and panoramic viewpoints all within walking distance of the town centre.
Photography in and around Malvern
As a Malvern wedding photographer based in Herefordshire, what I love about working here is the variety of backdrops to choose from. The Victorian architecture and hillside streets sit in beautiful contrast to the wild, open landscape of the Malvern Hills behind them. The short distance between make it an easy transition for couples on their wedding day who want a variety of shots.
My approach in Malvern is to photograph unobtrusively, using the character of the town and the drama of the hills to frame my subjects, capturing real moments as they happen, as well as creating relaxed, natural portraits. The result is a set of images that feel shaped by Malvern’s architecture and landscape.
Heading up onto the Malvern Hills at golden hour brings soft, glowing light and incredible panoramic views. It’s the perfect time for something a little more epic, if there’s time in your day. A wide-angle lens allows me to capture epic landscapes with you in them. A telephoto lens can gently separate you from the background, creating beautiful depth with expansive scenery behind.
