Llanerch Vineyard Wedding

A South Wales Wedding Venue

I had the pleasure of being J&M’s Llanerch Vineyard wedding photographer last autumn and what a wonderful wedding it was! My favourite thing about being a wedding photographer is getting to witness all the love that surrounds you on your wedding day, and J&M’s family and friends brought love in abundance!!

It was obvious just how much this wonderful bride and groom love each other too, and along with their little girl (who looked the cutest thing in her little flower girl dress), the whole day was just bursting with love and feeling.

As a documentary wedding photographer, I just love to capture those real, happy, wonderful moments of love between you and those you care about. That’s what makes my job so wonderful! Below are some of my favourites from the day.

The Wedding Day Story

When I first arrived at Llanerch I was greeted by rows and rows of vines and some gorgeous views of Garth Mountain.

I met up with J and her bridesmaids in the hotel dressing room at Llanerch, the girls were already well into bridal preparations on my arrival. I took a few photos of the bridal gown and bridesmaid dresses before capturing the girls getting ready and drinking champagne. Once J’s Mum had helped her into her bridal gown and veil, her dad came in and there was a lovely emotional moment between J and her parents, who both welled up at the sight of their daughter in her wedding dress.

Once everyone was ready, we headed down the long corridor to Calon Lodge, where M, his groomsmen and the wedding guests were waiting for her arrival. I absolutely love how happy both bride and groom look during their wedding ceremony. The joyful celebrant couldn’t have been happier to announce them as husband and wife. Once they’d said their I do’s and signed the register, the confetti throwing guests welcomed the newly-weds into married life out in the secret garden.

I always try and let my couples have plenty of time to chat and mingle with guests before we sneak off for portraits or work through their list of group photographs. Once the new Mr and Mrs had been showered in hugs, kisses, and well-wishes, we snuck off to the vineyard and woodland for some portraits.

I love taking my couples away for portraits because it’s so nice to see them relax and take a breath away from their guests. It’s such a wonderful little opportunity to actually catch up with one another, breath it all in and absorb your amazing day.

By the time we headed back, guests were making their way up to the Woodland Marquee to be seated for the wedding breakfast. J, M and their little girl were announced in as a new family and dinner was served.

Once the wedding party and all the guests were fed, the groom, father of the bride and the best man all gave speeches. Once again, it was evident how much love was in the room and there were quite a few happy tears shed.

After the speeches, J, M and I headed outside where we used the fairy lights adorning the vineyard fence to create some cool night portraits. I lit the couple with an off-camera flash off to the side of the frame, fired another behind them for some rim light, and used a wide open aperture to create bokeh from the lights. I love the affect and the couple did too!

The Venue

Llanerch Vineyard is a Welsh vineyard located in the heart of the Glamorgan countryside, just outside the town of Pontyclun. The vineyard has a long history, but was refurbished and replanted around 13 years ago, by the current owner. Llanerch produces a range of award-winning wines, including still and sparkling varieties. In addition to the vineyard, Llanerch also has a restaurant, bistro, hotel and of course, a wedding venue! The vineyard’s picturesque setting, commitment to sustainability and on-site facilities make it a wonderful South-Wales wedding venue
