Elmhay Park Wedding Photographer

Leanne and Hannah’s Orchardleigh Wedding

I first met Hannah and Leanne at a wedding show, and we just clicked, so I was absolutely delighted when they asked me to be their Elmhay Park wedding photographer!

Elmhay Park is a large wedding venue on the Orchardleigh Estate, near the pretty Somerset town of Frome. Set in the countryside just a short drive south from the city of Bath is a beautiful 500-acre estate. Elmhay park is one of two wedding venues on-site and is set in a beautifully landscaped red-brick walled garden.

Stay at the Orchardleigh Castle the night before your wedding, perfect for bridal prep photographs as you get ready for your big day!

Say I-do in the partially covered Italian Garden – ideal for the unpredictable British weather! Then have your reception alfresco at the Italian Garden or inside in the light-filled Orangery.

Immediately behind the walled garden sit Elmhay Park village, with plenty of bedrooms to accommodate your wedding guests after a long night celebrating.

This is a beautiful venue to shoot at, with plenty of backdrop options and lots of light to play with. The staff at Orchardleigh are great too, and the weddings I’ve shot there have always been awesome!

We first met Becky at a wedding fair, where she was so welcoming and approachable! Becky made us feel so at ease, we then knew she would be perfect for our day.

Becky was so organised and helpful before our day with organised questionnaires and Video calls to capture what we really wanted for our big day!

On the day itself she blended into the day and felt like one of our wedding guest, she is such a natural photographer and captured everyone really enjoying the day.

The day we received our link for the photos we couldn’t stop looking through them. – Pretty sure we spent a hours going over them!!

Thank You so much for capturing the most amazing moments of our wedding day!

Highly recommend Becky as your wedding photographer – We’ve had lots of our friends & family asking who took ours photos! 🙂

Tying the Knot

I arrived at Elmhay Park before either of the brides to get some detailed shots of the Italian Garden, Orangery, and walled garden before anyone else arrived. I was greeted by the ushers, Leanne’s lovely brother Nathan, and his partner. The boys were obviously a little nervous but soon got into the swing of welcoming wedding guests and ushering them to the ceremony, which was taking place in the Italian Garden.

Leanne arrived with her dad and bridesmaids first, she arrived in her car (her pride and joy!) and looked awesome in her suit (which had Toy Story lining, a theme that ran on through the day). Leanne’s Dad, Barry, is one of the most emotional fathers of the bride I have ever come across, he was welling up all day. His speech was particularly moving, and he really struggled to hold it together as he described how proud he was of both Leanne and her brother Nathan for coming out and confidently being themselves, regardless of others’ opinions. Leanne later told me he had never said this to her before, so it was a really touching moment to capture.

didn’t get to see Hannah before the ceremony, as both brides walked down the aisle and were given away by their dads. Leanne and Barry came first and were followed by Hannah and her father Darren. In contrast to Barry’s speech, Darren’s was a complete comedy. In fact, Hannah and her twin sister Kathy buried their heads in embarrassment as he worked the whole room, introducing everyone with funny facts!

It had been raining all morning and we were all praying the weather would hold off for confetti after the ceremony. Fortunately, we were blessed with a gap in the rain and so the guests headed out into the Italian Garden to toss confetti over the newly-weds – this is always one of my favourite parts of a wedding day to photograph!

With sunshine promised later in the day, the newly-weds and I headed out for portraits after the wedding breakfast had been served. With rain constantly threatening, we settled on photographs in the walled garden, under the archway at the Elmhay park village and a couple at the Italian Garden too.

After cake cutting and a first dance, everyone hit the dancefloor to the beat of the Hammervilles band, which really got the party going!

Somerset Weddings

Orchardleigh estate is just a short drive north of the pretty historic market town of Frome. Frome has a thriving contemporary and performing arts scene as well as a wealth of beautiful architecture. The Somerset town holds its monthly independent market on Sundays – a mini festival with market stalls bursting with local food and drink, plants, collectibles, produce and entertainment.

On non-market days Frome is still worth a visit, it’s pretty streets crammed with independent and specialist shops, arts and crafts, antiques, galleries, and jewellers.

Known for its community spirit, Frome has a busy social calendar too, with two theatres, a symphony orchestra, various choirs, The Frome and Agricultural Cheese show, Christmas Extravaganza and the 10 day Frome Festival Further afield, Somerset has lots to offer. The pretty city of Wells, with its grand cathedral and welcoming weekly farmers market. Epic Cheddar Gorge with its impressively winding road, seemingly endless caves, and wonderful views over the Somerset flats. Glastonbury with its annual world-famous festival, imposing Tor and incredibly quirky town (which seems to permanently smell of incense!).

One of my personal favourite things about being a wedding photographer at Elmhay Park is my commute, which takes me up and over the Mendip Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – a gorgeous spot for a pre-wedding drive!
