Dartmoor Wedding Photographer

Photography in the National Park

I love being a Dartmoor wedding photographer. With it’s wild and rugged moorlands and endless romantic landscapes there’s nowhere better for me to take my camera out for an adventure.

There are numerous awesome wedding venues within Dartmoor and in the surrounding Devon countryside. Some of my absolutely favourites are listed below. Being a largely rural county, with a plethora of wilderness spaces, from the Dartmoor National Park to sandy shores aplenty, fishing villages and the quirky university city of Exeter – this county is one of my favourites for weddings.

Dartmoor lends itself to the more laid-back, nature loving bride, willing to don a pair of wellies and head out across the moor for portraits amongst the epic landscape.

From Postbridge to Haytor, Fingle Bridge and beyond, there are endless places providing a beautiful backdrop for photographs. I have often been lucky enough to catch a wonderful sunset and the golden hour light that comes alongside whenever I’ve shot up on Dartmoor.

The Clients Said…

“I honestly have no idea where to start with expressing how amazing Becky has been through the whole process of organising a photographer for our wedding, to me it was such an important aspect to get right as this would be our lasting memories of our special day.

Me & my bridesmaids met Becky at the wedding fair in Exeter and from there we booked. We had an engagement shoot at Postbridge that I have to admit me and my husband were apprehensive about but it was amazing and prepared us totally for the big day!

Becky & Richard were brilliant on our wedding day – such a lot of fun and a lot of the time we didn’t even know they were there, so discrete!

The photos we have show the sheer quality of Becky’s work, they really are stunning!

We couldn’t be more delighted with everything Becky has done for us if we tried.”

Dartmoor, Devon and Beyond

The National park of Dartmoor sits in South Devon and stretches over 386 square miles. It’s a haven for wildlife, rare birds, bees, and the hardy Dartmoor ponies alike.  Panoramic views, majestic Tors, craggy valleys, vast rivers and great waterfalls make this historic place an explorer’s dream.

There’s so much to do up Dartmoor, wild swimming, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, or cycling or simply walking the dog! Letterboxing is now a popular Dartmoor hobby which started up 50 years ago. Nowadays hundreds of the letterboxes can be found all over the moor, but back then James Perrott (an experienced Dartmoor Guide) began the tradition by hiding a letter at Cranmere Pool for someone to find. The next letter wasn’t found until 40 years later at Belstone Tor. Each letter box (or Tupperware container) contains an ink pad, stamp and notebook. When found, the idea is to stamp and write a message in the notebook for the next person to find.

I love getting lost in the great outdoors and this wonderful national park is the perfect place to take a hike and get lost in nature. With many a myth and legend, it’s easy to lose yourself for an afternoon on Dartmoor.
