Gemma and Alex’s Eastington Park Wedding

Gloucestershire

I was thrilled when Gemma and Alex booked me to be their Eastington Park wedding photographer. I’d shot at the venue before and was therefore familiar with the amazing space available at the venue for a huge variety of gorgeous photos.

I am totally in love with the gardens and grounds at Eastington Park, there are so many beautiful places to use as backdrops and get creative for photos. Spring had finally sprung for this wedding in early May and the gardens were alive with greens and florals.

The forecast was a little iffy for the day but that didn’t matter one bit. The venue itself is flooded with natural light and has loads of beautiful places indoors for photographs too.

This gorgeous couple had a wonderful day, surrounded by so much love and laughter from their family and friends. There were happy tears all day and I just loved capturing the gorgeous moments between the bride, groom and those they love.

The Clients Said…

“Becky was our chosen photographer for our wedding on 05.05.2023 at Eastington Park.

Only a few days later and we have already received our Sneek Peak photos and we love them!!

Becky was amazing with us and all of our guests and we could not have selected a better person to photograph our special day.

Thanks so much, Alex & Gemma”

The Wedding Day

I arrived a good while before the ceremony when, Gemma and her bridesmaids were just setting up for preparations in the gorgeous bridal suite. I could tell the energy was high and bride, Gemma, was super chilled, happy and excited for the day ahead. I took a handful of venue shots before the guests started arriving and after a few documentary photographs of the girls having hair and make-up done. I also met up with the groom and his groomsmen who were getting ready in the drawing room downstairs.

One of my favourite moments of the morning was when Alex read the card that Gemma had written to him to read on the morning of their wedding. Alex was overwhelmed with emotion and shed a tear or five on reading her beautiful words.

Gemma and the girls were ready really early, which meant we had plenty of time to take some photos of them in their matching silk PJs in the bridal suite. I love to have the time to do a few of those photos, if possible, as well as the more natural documentary photography too.

Gemma’s Dad was crying before he’d even walked into the room to see her in her bridal gown and veil. Then her Mum and bridesmaids were all in tears too. It was such a beautiful moment to document.

The couple had hoped to have their wedding ceremony outside under the pergoda but with an iffy weather forecast they decided to opt for the ballroom inside instead. The guests fell about laughing when Alex answered incorrectly about being legally free to marry, and once he’d eventually got it right, the two exchanged rings and were pronounced husband and wife before sealing their new marriage with a kiss. The guests exploded with cheering and applause, and I could tell it was going to be a fun day!

Fortunately, the rain fell during the ceremony and then cleared, so we were able to head outside for the confetti toss and drinks reception. There was plenty of time for the couple to soak up the love from their friends and family before we took a handful of group photographs. Andy the videographer and I snuck off with the bride and groom for twenty minutes at the end of the drinks reception to take some shots of just the two of them. We were spoilt for choice for backdrops and the light was easy, being slightly overcast.

The newly-weds were announced into the larger ballroom and welcomed by their wedding guests once more before speeches were underway. There were wonderfully touching moments from the father of the bride, groom and moments of absolutely hilarity as the groom’s brother and best man teased him about being a terrible sleeper as a child!!

The wedding guests were served a three-course wedding breakfast before the room was turned around for the evening party.

After an emotional first dance, the guests hit the dancefloor and we captured the fun! I absolutely love to capture dancefloor antics and always feel on a total high before leaving a wedding.
